Our Beginnings: HCCH was founded in 1999 when a small group of families saw the need
for a local home school group. While groups existed in outlying areas,
nothing existed in the rapidly growing Bulverde / Spring Branch area.
First a list was put together of all the known home school families in
the area. Then invitations were sent out inviting approximately 50
families to an information meeting. Enough support was gathered at this
meeting to formally start a new home school support group.
After much prayer and hard work, a leadership board was established and
the name “Hill Country Christian Homeschoolers” was selected. The
mission statement (see below), board members statement of faith, and other key documents
were drafted as well. Thus began the group known today as HCCH. In
August of 2003 HCCH was incorporated as a State of Texas Non-Profit
Corporation.
Mission Statement: HCCH is a Christian organization established to provide support, education and fellowship for local home schooling families who are striving to train up their children in the Lord. Our existence depends on dedicated members who invest their time and resources.
Leadership Essentials: HCCH leaders have varying
temperaments, skills, experiences and leadership styles. However, they
enjoy at least one thing in common…a desire to serve fellow home
educators with the gifts that God has given them. To serve as HCCH
leaders, a married couple must be current HCCH members, must have been
members the prior school year, and must sign HCCH’s Statement of Faith.
Membership Essentials: HCCH is a Christian support group founded on the principles found in Godʼs Word, the Bible. We are however, an inclusive group that is open to all home educators regardless of religious faith or background. While our board members are required to sign a statement of Faith, our membership is not.
