Secondary Academic Class (SAC) Day

Purpose:

In accordance with the HCCH mission, SAC Day has been established for HCCH member families in an effort to meet an academic need that can not be met at home.  Currently it is the purpose of SAC Day to offer academic classes on the high school level only.

History:

SAC Day began as an idea around the kitchen table when a few moms were looking for ways to enhance their children's high school years and meet the need for academic classes that were more difficult to complete at home.   These moms did not wish to organize or participate in a co-op, but rather preferred to share tutors in order to cut costs and time away from home.  It was also their desire to provide some extra-curricular activities and opportunities for their children to develop closer friendships and experience class situations so that they would not have a desire to return to public or private schooling for their high school years.  The first full year began in Fall 2002.  Classes offered included math, science, music, and drama.  Approximately 20 families participated in some capacity.  Although it is not the intent of SAC Day to increase in size, the number of classes offered in the school year 2003-2004 was 18, with 24 families participating.

Logistics:

SAC Day meets on Mondays at Bulverde Baptist Church.  For information or questions not answered on this website, please use the contact button below.  We will try to get back with you quickly.
